Make Your Home a House of Prayer
We
all know how busy life can be. There are so many things to do. The list
is endless. But it’s so important for us to make spending time with God
in prayer a priority.
God says in Isaiah 56:7 nkjv, "My house
shall be called a house of prayer." We tend to think of His house as a
church building, but you and I are His house. First Corinthians 6:19
says that we are the temple of the Holy Ghost! God didn’t say that His
house was to be a house of deliverance or a house of healing. Those
things are important, but they are by-products of prayer. Prayer is to
be the foundation of everything we do and say.
This is
especially true when it comes to our children. They have to know God for
themselves. As parents, we can’t allow ourselves to become negative and
nag them or complain about them. We must press in to God through
prayer. That is what will affect our children the most.
There are
times when you may think, I don’t have time to pray. Even though you’re
busy, take a few minutes to put on a good worship tape and sing along.
When you’re driving in your car, listen to tapes and pray. Worship the
Lord. You may have just a little bit of time, but God looks at your
heart more than at how much time you spend in prayer.
I believe
that when we make our home a house of prayer, prayer begins to direct
our family’s steps like a compass, and everything else can fall into
place.
