Hello, I am Miss Young. I received the following email. It is a socalled "Advance Fee Fraud" letter, where I am promised millions for my assistance. These stories are all lies, and if I respond, sooner or later I will be asked to pay a fee. If I pay, another fee will quickly come up, and it will continue that way until I give up or run out of money. I will never see the millions, because they never existed.

Hello,

I am Briggs Brandenburg, close associate and friend to late Christophe de Margerie who died in an aircraft crash in Moscow on 20 October 2014, along with the three-member crew (Yann Pican, Maxime Rassiat and Ruslana Vervelle). I have prepared this mail in three stages for your easy understanding, please read below.

MY LATE FRIEND CHRISTOPHE DE MARGERIE:

Christophe de Margerie was born in Mareuil-sur-Lay, France, on 6 August 1951. His parents were Pierre-Alain Rodocanachi and Colette Taittinger. His mother later married Pierre-Alain Jacquin de Margerie, who adopted him.

Christophe de Margerie joined the Total Group, Total S.A., after graduating from ESCP Europe in Paris in 1974. He started working for Total in the Finance Department and Exploration & Production division.

He became President of Total Middle East in 1995 before joining the group's Executive Committee as President of the Exploration & Production division in May 1999. In January 2002 he became President of the Exploration & Production division of Total.

He was appointed a member of the Board of Directors on 12 May 2006 and became CEO of on 14 February 2007. From 21 May 2010, he served as Chairman of the company.

Christophe de Margerie had strong ties with many countries and in particular with Russia, United States, Malaysia, China etc, Christophe de Margerie died in an aircraft crash in Moscow on 20 October 2014, returning to Paris after a meeting at the dacha of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, near Moscow, subsequent to a business leaders' meeting in Gorky. The two men had been discussing investments in Russia and the Middle East amid the 2014 pro-Russian unrest in Ukraine and the resulting Western sanctions imposed on the Ukraine as a result of the standoff.

MY PROPOSAL WORTH 48MILLION USA DOLLARS:

About a year before the death of Chistophe De Margerie, he was working on setting up a company in Malaysia, a shipping company, and one that will eventually be global leaders in the maritime transportation of hydrocarbons, as well as the servicing and support of offshore exploration and oil & gas production. His proposition was a company with fleet list structure as listed below.

  1. Transportation of crude oil and petroleum products in the downstream segment (refined petroleum products),bulk cargoes(Crude oil carriers of the tanker sizes VLCC, Suezmax, Aframax Product, carriers and chemical tankers of the sizes MR, LR I, LR II and Handysize, Panamax bulk carriers).
  2. Transportation of liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LNG and LPG carriers).
  3. Supply and servicing of offshore platforms, management of terminals, and safe shuttle shipments of oil (Shuttle tankers of the tanker sizes Aframax, Panamax and MR, Icebreaking platform supply vessels, Multifunctional icebreaking standby vessels).
  4. Offshore geophysical exploration (Seismic research vessel).

    Before he could achieve all of these he died and ever since this dream has died with him too.

    My proposal is simple and clear, before the death of Chistophe De Margerie 20th October 2014 we have completed all legal documentations to setup this company and the Malaysian government has given approval for the company to kick start, as his friend and very close associate I was there with him in many business meetings and the ones I could not attend I always got firsthand information about the proceedings, all the documentations and legal proceedings to that effect was done with me in attendance and I have all documents intact and with me, he trusted me and I always gave him the best advise anytime he needed one.

    48million dollars was deposited with a Malaysian financial institution(Bank) and the purpose was to setup a company account with a Malaysian bank with the beneficiary name as CURA PETROLEUM COMPANY INC, and Chistophe De Margerie as temporal sole signatory to the account with the possibilities of potential positions to be occupied by ceo/president, board of directors, chief accountant etc, this initial 48million dollars was to cover logistical and pre-operation costs to kick-start CURA PETROLEUM COMPANY INC, till date the 48million dollars lay safe-keep with Maybank in Malaysia untouched and safe.

    Now back to my proposal, with your permission to act as my partner in this venture, I can present you as a joint investor and partner with Chistophe De Margerie and the bank will release 24millions dollars to you.

    This is how it will happen, I will prepare a joint venture agreement (JV) between you and Mr. Christophe De Margerie stating that both parties jointly owned CURA PETROLEUM COMPANY INC and jointly contributed the 48million dollars which is in safe-keep with Maybank, you do not have to worry about the legal requirements, as someone who has been involved from the beginning with Mr. Christophe De Margerie I know this can work perfectly and legally because I have all the required documents with me.

    Now I have contact the family of Christophe De Margerie to inform them about the $48 million dollars in Malaysia and they want me to help oversee the process to revert the funds back to the family, but I have also made the family to understand that there is a foreign joint investor with Christophe De Margerie and that they both provided the funds ($24 million dollars each) to setup CURA PETROLEUM COMPANY INC.

    At this stage I guess my proposal is very clear to you now, I want you to act as the joint investor and then claim $24 million dollars, with your permission I will be making on your behalf an application for release of 24million dollars which is half of the money with the financial institution(Bank) in Malaysia, this is the 50% share that is due to be refunded to you as a joint partner and joint-investor with Mr. Christophe De Margerie, the other half of 24million dollars will be transferred to his family.

    I will submit to his family lawyer all required documents including a memorandum of understanding/Joint venture agreement letter which will state you and Chistophe De Margerie as business partners who have jointly contributed $24 million dollars each to set up a company in Malaysia. The family lawyer who will be representing his family for the claim will file for the release of the funds for both parties involved (You and Christophe De Margerie).

    If you agree to do this with me and act as the joint partner to Mr. Christophe De Margerie, you will be entitled to receive 24million dollars from Maybank which we will agree to share 50/50 (that means 12million dollars for you and 12million dollars for me).

    If you agree to my proposal then let me know in your reply, I will send you more details and how we are to proceed.

    VERY IMPERATIVE: THIS TRANSACTION BETWEEN YOU AND I MUST BE KEPT VERY CONFIDENTIAL EVEN IF YOU DECIDE TO DECLINE MY OFFER.
