COMPENSATION PAYMENT NOTIFICATIONS
The Commission has accepted for filing claims of individuals,
corporations and Governments, submitted by Governments, as well as
those submitted by international organizations for individuals who
were not in a position to have their claims filed by their Government.
Since 1991, the Commission has received more than 2.6 million claims
seeking a total of approximately US$352 billion in compensation.
Nearly one hundred Governments have submitted claims for their
nationals, corporations and themselves. Thirteen offices of the United
Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations High Commissioner
for Refugees (UNHCR) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for
Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), have also submitted claims
for individuals who were not in a position to have their claims filed by
Governments.
The Governing Council has identified six categories of claims listed
below. These comprise four categories of claims of individuals, one
for corporations and one for Governments and international
organizations, which also includes claims for environmental damage,
internet and online scam, credit card/bank account hacking,
contract/lottery fund and insurance/pension fund.
