He has called me but I don't understand what he was talking about. He said he was from London (Is it really from London?) but I heard his sound was from Africa. He told me to call the courier who will send the cheque to me. But I have to ask the courier for the delivery cost in order to claim the cheque.

The telephonecall was not from London. The London telephone number +447... is a "personal number". It means that all calls are forwarded to another phone. In this case probably in west africa.
