Miss Young

Hello, I am Miss Young. A scammer often fails in making his victim pay him money. But he does not give up if he thinks it is still possible to convince the victim. He could try a new scam with hidden millions or a big lottery winning. Another approach is a compensation letter where he promises the victim a big sum as compensation. The compensation money does not exist, - it is simply the start of a new scam. The letter below is an example of such a letter.

I hope you are not telling me a bullshit lie like the last people that I tried to help.  They also promised me compensation and then they never sent it to me trying to tell me that I had to send them money for some insurance paper that they claimed UPS Exspress said that they had to have.  When I called UPS Exspress they said that I did NOT have to have the insurance papers and that they would never look to see what was in the envelop and that it would cost about $20 for them to mail the check to me.  You will have left money for your attorney to run your office with so there is no reason that he can't use some of that to mail the check to me.  I hope that this isn't just another bullshit scammer trying to get money.

Subject: compinsation.

I am writing to you so that I can get the $950,000.00 that your boss has promised to me for trying to help him get his money.  I have gone down this road with another person that I tried to help and was scammed.  They had promised me compinsation and then they tried to make me pay them in order for me to get my money, claiming that they had to have an insurance paper in order to mail me a check.  So I called the UPS Exspress office and they told me that this was a lie and that all the person has to do is to go into thier office get an envelop and put the check in it seal the envelop up and put the address on it and mail it for about $20.00.  UPS Exspress stated that they NEVER ask what is in the envelop and that they will NOT open it to see.  On this note lets see if you are on the up and up and will send me the certified bank issued cashiers check at your "bosses" exspence or if you are going to try to pull some crap and come up with excusses like the last people I tried to help.  I never did get any money from them either so I want to see if you are differnt or if all you people are the same.

Thank you and I pray that you are different from the others (they were scammers trying to get money from me) and that I will actually see my money that has been promised to me and not alot of excuses and statements telling me that you will have to wait for you boss to come back as he didn't leave you any money to mail the letter, etc. (this is what the others told me and then I never heard from them again.)

You do NOT need to get a diplomat to bring the bank draft over here all you have to to do is to send it through UPS Exspress like I told you before.  It only cost $20 and they do NOT require anything else.  Just put the bank draft into the envelop and seal it, put my address on it and hand it to the clerk with the money to mail it and that is it.  You will NOT be held responsible as they will also give you a tracking number so you will know where the package is at all times.   E-mail me the tracking number so I can also track it.  Don't prove to me that this is a scam that is just trying to get money from me.  I can NOT afford to travel or to send any type of money.  The last time someone told me the same stuff you are telling me they ended up not sending me the money that they had promised me and I am now getting an attorney involved as well as the F.B.I.'s internet fraud department

I have told you before that I can NOT afford to send anyone any money.  I think that if your boss really wanted to give me the money he promised then he wouldn't mind if you took this fee out of the money he has left you to run his business.

Subject: DELIVERY

Hello,
I  am in receipt of your mail. However from the verifications I made about the diplomatic courier service companies and their procedures and cost of delivering the shipment to your address given i was told that, there is no way your cheque could be delivered without paying for the cost for the delivery charges which is mandatory because they let me know that they don't accept C.O.D or payment after delivery here that the delivery cost must be paid for before it could be shipped/delivered to you. Below is the courier costs and companies around that I verified from since they are the only carrier allowed to carry drafts, cheques or other monetary instruments here.

Global trust courier;Us$96
Dsc courier:Us$105
Topchrono:Us$79

Make your choice among the lists of the courier service companies and get back to me.I look forward to hear from you soon so that i can send the name of the collection clerks name for the shipment payment via western union money transfer.I await to receiving call from you soon.

Yours faithfully,
Mr.John Koko

When I spoke to them they told me it was only going to cost $20 and that they would do it C.O.D.  I still think your boss should pay this fee due to all the time I have invested in trying to help him out.
