I am back after the week-end, with 4 unanswered emails and a voicemail.
Samuel has got a new mobile number. I choose to answer Samuel:
Hello again Samuel,
I hope you and your family are alright. How is your mother?
I am back home again after a long journey, where I missed my flight
in Chicago. When I finally was home in Seattle I learned that my old
friend Scott McKinney had just died of a heart failure. He was only
46! I have to go to his funeral in Aberdeen on Friday.
I can see that you have tried to contact me, so I will try to call
you on your phone 2348055900580 today.
In my last email I asked for some kind of proof of your identity,
a copy of your passport, drivers license or similar. Have you sent that?
My near term plans is a trip to Sct Petersburg if I can get a Visa
in time.
Hope to talk to you soon, ...

I am out of town for a funeral, and been off-line for 4 days. Now I
contact "Equity Trust", give them my address, and tease them
a little:
... I have attached my picture.
I can see from your very nice web-site that you have an office here
in USA.
Please inform me of their address and telephonenumber.

Once again, I try to get a picture from Samuel:
Hello Samuel,
I am back in town after a tiring funeral. I received your email.
Regarding your idea of meeting face to face, - I think that is a
brilliant idea. I am looking forward to meet you in person. Will you
sister also come?
I need to be able to recognize you when we meet, so please send
me your picture. Dont be shy. I have attached another picture of my
self.
You also ask when I can come to Amsterdam. Well, that depends on
when I get my VISA for Sct.Petersburg. I will let you know as soon as
I get it.
If possible, I would like to combine the two cities. It is a long
and tiring trip to go to Europe.
With love, ...

This is going to be expensive. In the letter from Equity Trust, I am
asked to bring "The sum of EUR
13,875 representing handling/demurrage and custom charges."
to Amsterdam.
After the week-end, I tell Samuel about my ordeal in Sct. Petersburg:
Hello Samuel,
Sorry for the late answer, but I have just been through the worst
week-end in my life. As you know, I was going to Sct. Petersburg, and
everything went according to plan until I landed there. I had been chatting
with a nice fellow on the plane, and had promised to carry one of his
bags through the customs because he was handicappet and we were going
to the same hotel. That was a BIG mistake, because I was stopped in
the customs, and it turned out that his bag contained drugs. And the
man, whose name I didn't have, was nowhere to find. To make a long story
short, I was arrested, and was first released when I managed to get
in touch with the American Embassy this morning.
I will go on to Amsterdam and plan for a meeting with Equity Trust
on the 6th. If you cant join me, I will have to do it on my own. As
soon as the consignment is in my possession, I will send you the $3700
you asked for, so that you can join me in Amsterdam. A returnticket
Lagos-Amsterdam is about 2200 EUR, so the $3700 should be more than
enough.
I know that I have asked you before, but please send me your picture,
so that I can recognize you when we meet in Amsterdam.
Equity Trust has asked me to bring "Power of Attorney" and "shipment
air-way bill". Do you know what that means??
Bye for now, ...
|
|
|
And a short note to "Equity Trust":
Dear Joseph/Karol
This is just to confirm that I have received your "Approved Release",
and that I plan to meet you on the 6th.
I will bring the required items, and pay you the 13.000 EUR as soon
as I have verified that the content of the consignment is undamaged
and ok.

Its time to set up the meeting with Equity Trust:
I will arrive in Amsterdam from Paris by flightnumber 8224 from
AirFrance at 11:00 AM.
I suggest that we meet on the corner of xxx and yyy at 02:00 PM.
That should give my enough time to get into town and get to the bank
before our meeting.
Will you send me a picture of your protocol officer, so that I can
recognize him? I think that I have sent you my picture earlier.

I had expected that a new fee should appear in the last minute. Anyway
it is time to stop this story, so on the day of the planned meeting,
I write to Samuel:
Dear Samuel,
I just arrived to Amsterdam today for my appointment with "Equity
Trust", but had to realize that they cannot be trusted. They didnt show
up !! I was raving mad.
Regarding the $850 I have to tell you that after what happened in
Sct.Petersburg, I dont have that much money at hand. You will have to
get it yourself. Just to quote something you told me earlier: "...remember
that you are at the receiving end while I at the giving end."
When you have fixed this, then a can arrange a new meeting with
"Equity Trust(?)".

And a goodbye to "Equity Trust":
Hello Karol and Joseph,
WILL YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE H... IS GOING ON !!!
I have now travelled to Amsterdam to meet you, and you dont show
up!
I asked you to send me a picture of your protocol officer, but you
didnt!
How should I be able to recognize him/her?
Please come up with a good explanation, or our deal is off!

Miss Onome Obi has been quite active. A search on the Internet for
